Which airport should I fly into?

Both Shannon Airport and Dublin Airport are nearly equidistant to the town of Birr. Shannon is quaint with a scenic drive to Birr, but if you have a tight timeline or plan to travel before/after the wedding weekend, then we recommend Dublin. Dublin will also have more flight options per day.

What is the best way to get from the airport to Birr?

While there are public transportation options via bus, taxi is the best option. The bus route can take around 3 hours vs. taxi from either airport is around 1 hr 20 mins to 1 hr 45 mins.

Will there be transportation provided throughout the weekend?

Yes. We will be providing a shuttle service from all listed accommodations to and from Gloster House for the Welcome Dinner, the Wedding, and to the pubs after the Pig Roast. If you elect to book an AirBnb outside of the room blocks, please let us know, and we can add a stop to the transportation route if it's within range.

What is the dress code for each event?

Welcome Dinner - Casual Cocktail

Men in slacks and a polo or button down; women in a casual dress, jumpsuit, or pants + a blouse.

Wedding - Black Tie Optional

Men in tuxedos or dark-colored suits; women in midi-length or full length gowns.

Day 2 Pig Roast - Guinness-Drinking Pants

Anything goes! Sundresses, skirts, jeans, sweaters, loafers, kitten heels, sneakers... just as long as you're prepared to Irish jig at anytime.

N O T E: April weather in Ireland is typically in the mid 50s. Though it's considered their "driest month", that doesn't say much for the rainy country. For all events, come prepared with a light jacket, sweater or shawl just in case.

Are there other wedding activities I should be aware of?

Yes. We are planning a golf outing on Thursday morning for any men interested in golfing with the groom. If you would like to participate, please email thepenkwedding@gmail.com so that we can facilitate shuttle fees, bag rentals, and golf price.

If I have the flexibility, what day should I arrive for the weekend?

To attend all wedding events, we recommend taking the Wednesday night redeye to arrive in Ireland on Thursday morning.

If you would like to golf, we suggest taking the Tuesday night redeye to arrive on Wednesday in order to make the Thursday morning tee times.​

Can I bring my kids?

Kids are welcome to attend the Welcome Dinner and the Day 2 Pig Roast; however, the Wedding itself is adults only.

Are Ubers a thing?

No, sadly. Taxis are still the most common form of transportation.

Make sure your passport is up to date.

While US passports are valid up until their expiration date for Ireland, make sure you factor in ample time for renewal if needed.
